Sunday Club
During Sunday morning
worship Sunday Club provides encouragement for youngsters to follow Jesus
in their lives and to develop their own relationship with God. The young
people and their leaders begin worship with the congregation leaving after
the second hymn to go to their Sunday Club groups (under 5’s, juniors and
seniors).
During School holidays
the services are All Age Worship, allowing the congregation to be together
for the duration of the service. Often the young people are involved in
some way with drama, songs or creating craft items.
Shell Club
Shell Club is our
weekday group for school years 3 to 6 and follows an active programme of seasonal activities
including games, arts and crafts and visits. In summer months we use
local school playing fields, go on farm visits and walks around the town.
In colder weather we enjoy indoor sports, drama and craftwork.
Sisterhood Group
This group is
interdenominational and meets on the second Monday of each month at
2.15pm. A speaker is invited and the meeting finishes with a cup of
tea. The group was formed in 1947 by Doris Jackson, the wife of our
Minister at that time and on the occasion of her 100th birthday
she wrote to say that she was so pleased that ‘her baby’ was still going
strong.
Prayer Meeting
A group meeting on
Tuesdays at 9-15am where any concerns for prayer are brought and discussed
- concerns for individuals, activities within the church, local issues,
workers in the town and community and current world situations. Often
short appropriate readings are included and there is a time for silent
prayer. All are welcome.
House Group
The role of the home
group is absolutely crucial in the life of the church. Whilst our church
is a social and friendly place with opportunities for fellowship, prayer
and worship, home group gatherings create opportunities to talk and listen
to each other in greater depth.
During relaxed,
informal, comfortable conversation we encourage each other on our journey
of seeking further understanding of God’s grace and learning how to love
and serve Him in our daily lives.
There is a relationship
of mutual respect during the non-threatening, non-judgemental open
discussions and lots of humour and shared emotions, despite differing
opinions and opposing views on Christian traditions and contemporary
cultural issues. Confidentiality is preserved to enable everyone to
speak freely about his or her personal faith and experience without
discrimination.
Everyone is welcome and
there is no financial commitment required. No presumption is made of any
specific level of scriptural knowledge and groups will sub-divide once
they reach a certain size in order to keep them small.
YW Group
YW was formed in the
early 1970’s and was originally known as the Young Wives Group. It
changed it’s name in more recent years even though our more mature members
are still young wives at heart. The group welcomes women of all ages to
join with them on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each
month at 7.45pm to enjoy fellowship, speakers, outings and activities.
Coffee Group
Meeting in the Coffee
Lounge on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7.45pm this group
is for men and women of all ages and all interests. We enjoy interesting
speakers, quiz nights, trips, coffee and refreshments.
Young at Heart Group
Our Senior Youth Club

month for games and company. Open to over 21’s for snooker, table
tennis, darts and board games. Admission £1 and refreshments are
